Basin Ambulations: Lake Mungo evolved out of a series of walks that I began in the Murray Darling basin in 2014. Through these walks I came to understand the fragility of the environment and developed a strong desire to better understand the traditional owner’s land, culture and people.

In Basin Ambulations: Lake Mungo Shannon attempts to bring water back to the parched bed of ancient Lake Mungo with a large frozen cube of Murray River water. The gesture is futile. The water seeps off into the thirsty dry lake bed and vanishes into the depths of the scorched soil.
